About the FestivalOn April 10, 2023 the Organizing Committee of the II Festival of Visual Art ‘Patterned Thread’ announces the acceptance of applications for participation. For the first time the Festival of Visual Art ‘Patterned Thread’ was held in 2022. It was organized with the support of the Presidential Foundation for Cultural Initiatives and became one of the brightest events of the Cultural program of the V International Forum of Ancient Cities. The Festival continues a traditional of Photofestival of Ancient Cities that took place in 2019 and 2021 and showed the viewers unique sights and natural landscapes, as well as original traditions of the peoples of Russian and foreign ancient cities. This year, the Festival is organized in support of the VI International Forum of Ancient Cities that will be held in Ryazan on August 24-26. The main theme of the Forum is ‘Eternal Youth of Ancient Cities’. The contest program in the nominations ‘Photo art’ and ‘Video art’ will include works that reflect dynamic lifestyle of people of ancient cities, modern buildings that harmoniously fit into surrounding historical environment, development and interaction of traditional and innovative activities of ancient cities. In the year of 2023, that was declared the Year of Teacher and Mentor, the Festival is aimed at uniting Russian society, preservation and promotion of traditional moral and spiritual values, first and foremost, the continuity of generations. Thus, the Organizers of the Festival decided to establish additional nominations. The nomination ‘Creative tandem: mentor and mentee’ will include photos and videos made by the mentors and mentees in collaboration. The nomination ‘Debut’ will include works made by young photographers and videographers. We expect interesting photo- and videoworks from you that correspond to the theme of the Festival. The acceptance of applications will last from April 10 to August 15. The Festival can be attended by individuals, legal entities, companies, creative associations, professional photographers and videospecialists, as well as amateur photographers and videographers over the age of 18 years old from any country of the world. The best works of the Festival are determined by an Expert Commission. The list of the members of the Expert Commission is published on the Website of the Festival. The best works (at most 40 photographs in the nomination ‘Photo art’ and at most 5 videos in the nomination ‘Video art’) by the decision of the Organizers will take part in the Final Interactive Exhibition that will work on August 24-26 within the VI International Forum of Ancient Cities. The authors of the best works included in the shortlist will be awarded with Diplomas, the photo- and videoworks from the shortlist will be published on the official Website of the Festival. To participate in the Festival, you must read the Provisions, the Licence agreement, fill out the Registration Form (in MS Word) and send your works to the following e-mail address: ancient.cities@yandex.ru . The founder of the Festival is the Ministry for Culture of the Ryazan Region. The Organizers of the project are the Center for Cultural Development of the Ryazan Region and ‘PAPRICO’ event agency.
